If you need help with legal matters related to COVID-19, call (800) 968-0738. The State Bar of Michigan will refer you to a lawyer who has agreed to promptly provide legal services for certain areas of practice, including a 25-minute consultation at no charge.
What services are available?
Through the COVID-19 Rapid Response Helpline, Michiganders can get help with legal services related to the following areas:
- Estate/Disability Planning
- Custody and Parenting Time Issues
- Garnishment Defense and Other Consumer Matters
- Labor and Employment
Attorneys involved in the initiative have agreed to contact clients within four hours of receiving a referral (Referrals received after 3:00 p.m. may be responded to no later than 10:00 a.m. the following day). They will also provide consultation to a referred caller of up to 25 minutes at no charge.
Who’s eligible to receive services?
The COVID-19 Rapid Response Helpline is available to anyone looking for streamlined legal services related to the pandemic. This is not a pro bono initiative, so there are no income limitations.
